…this actually is a hard question for me. (And yes I love Hamlet-cheesy but it works) For those of you that don’t know, I am a former WoW (World of Warcraft for those of you not in the know) player. I used to play with my local friends in a guild and on my own when I had to time. I loved playing WoW. I loved the camaraderie I had with the people I played with. I loved the quest trees and the instance dungeons. I loved the dual wielding warrior I created and how hot I made her. I loved how I could finally go out on an adventure in a fantasy land, die, and be able to come back and try again without losing experience points. I loved seeing the sun rise over the hills and mountains while going out and grinding herbs for my primary profession. Sadly, I stopped playing due to life getting in the way and guild drama leading to its eventual break up. I do miss it though, even though it started to take over my life – which is why I’m trying to decide if I want to give Rift a try.

It’s supposed to be a WoW clone with some of the annoyances from WoW either removed or fixed entirely. I’ve been watching some game play videos on YouTube to get a feel for the game. I’ve especially liked the first impressions review given by Yogscast. There are a lot of videos since they are pretty through, but they are also very honest-something I really like to see from a reviewer. I really enjoyed the videos, but I’m not sure if I want to take the plunge yet.

Here are some of the first few videos. They’re a little NSFW but they are well done.
